3 Positive Results of the Home Industry Boom

Delays, supply chain issues, and shortages…oh my! We’ve all seen the memes and heard about the many downfalls that the home industry boom has caused, but we like to look at the bright side of things over here. You know…focus on the good. Or at least what’s in our control.

Of course, we can’t ignore the fact that the industry is experiencing significant delays across the board, but what if I told you that some really wonderful things have transpired during these somewhat frustrating circumstances? It’s true. And today, we’re sharing not one, not two, but three positive results that our team and clients are experiencing.

If you’ve been hesitant to begin your latest home project due to shortages and delays, these silver linings may just give you the motivation you need…

1. More Time at Home Brings Clarity to Our Home Goals

Home has turned into more than just a dwelling place. It’s taken on the role of office, gym, and for some, school. The benefit of spending more and more time within our walls? We begin to truly understand our needs, and with that comes the realization of creating a functional and beautiful space that supports every facet of our lifestyle.

For example, if your current home office shares the space with your kid’s toys and art supplies, I’m willing to bet you get interrupted A LOT, and your productivity at work is next to none. You know you need a separate space to work, away from the beautiful chaos that tends to come with having children in the home, but how do you get there? Well…you seek out the assistance of a professional, of course!

Knowing you need a space to suit your needs is one thing. Creating it is another. A well-designed home is one that functions seamlessly and reflects your personal taste and passions. Best of all, it promotes happiness and overall wellness that will overflow into every area of your life.

My point is, it’s worth doing it right the first time. Hiring an interior designer naturally leads to better results, making your home goals attainable. And it seems like we’re not alone in thinking this—we have never been so busy with incredible renovations and decorating projects for our Bay Area clients!

2. Supply Chain Issues Offer Delightful & Unexpected Discoveries

When we all began settling into our homes for a prolonged amount of time, along came the necessity to create a space we absolutely loved to be. With that came the demand for purchasing new furniture and undergoing home renovations. Generally, demand is a good thing, but in this case, it caused a trickle-down effect of supply chain issues and longer lead times. (18 months for a brand new sofa? Yikes!) This, you probably already know. But what you might not know is that…

Because our usual vendors are experiencing such long delays, we’ve been forced to get creative with solutions…and the results have been extraordinary! We’ve begun to seek out more local artists, up-and-coming vendors, and small, boutique businesses that can deliver quality products that they have in stock.

The best part? Many of these vendors are American-made companies we may never have discovered and been able to support otherwise. What a happy accident! And you can rest assured that we won’t forget about these incredible resources if/when the world is back to business as usual.

There is also, of course, an added benefit for you. Stumbling upon these special artisans and suppliers means that we get to design and furnish your home with beautiful, unique, less-heard-of items that help make it truly your own. I thought we were creating custom spaces before, but now, these gems that we’re finding are taking your home to the next level of personalization. Love it.

3. The Luxury of Time Frees Up Room for Creativity & Processes

If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s patience, am I right? With a forced slow-down across the board, we’ve been able to adapt our relentless “hurry” mindset into more of a slow and steady approach. Yes, we have to wait for things. Yes, every project takes longer than it did before. But instead of viewing this as a setback, we’ve shifted our focus to consider it a luxury.

And guess what we’ve learned? Incredible results are born from having the ability to truly take your time. With more time, we’ve been able to settle in and make our already well-honed design process even better.

How? Since each project takes a set amount of time, regardless of how quickly we as designers move, we’ve begun to really focus on diving deep with our clients at the beginning. The luxury of time has freed up more space for creative iteration, coming up with unique design solutions and features for your home that, again, achieve that next level of sophisticated yet relaxed family-friendly design.

Ahh…isn’t it amazing what a positive perspective can bring to a less-than-ideal situation? Since it seems that things won’t change anytime soon, it’s time for us to adapt, and instead of dwelling on the doom and gloom, settle in and make the best of the circumstances we can control.
